Britta has over a decade of Early Childhood Education experience, including a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Human Services from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, and a Director II Certification from the Department of Early Childhood Education. Britta contributes a wealth of experience and knowledge from both the public and private sectors of education, as well as a background in marketing and management consulting. She has held positions as Lead Teacher, School Director, and Director of Program Development, where she used her expertise to create enriching, child-driven learning environments that foster creativity.
She has been instrumental in enhancing school communities through the creation of innovative programs, curriculum enrichment, and strong family support. Her work with parents, teachers, and families, both on a day to day basis, as well as in more formal settings, enables her to understand the challenges of parenting and the specific needs of a school community and how to best support them. Britta has a thorough knowledge of how young children learn and develop, and believes that there is magic and a teachable opportunity in the everyday moments of a child’s life. She loves embracing children’s natural sense of curiosity about the world around them through hands-on exploration and activities that nurture their inquisitive minds. To her, a school should be a true cooperative community, where children, families, and staff feel supported and inspired to create discoveries together.
Britta’s son attends the Sudbury Cooperative Preschool. Being a native of Mexico City, she is raising him to be bilingual. She loves watching him learn through messy sensory activities, finds joy in the moments of laughter, and tries to look at the world around her through his eyes and those of the young child, keeping her sense of wonder alive.
